Dear readers and listeners,
it has been a while since you last heard from me… I have been a bit too immersed in the seas journeying with the most intense crews ever to come on my ship. Intense times it be!
A warm welcome to this wyrd little corner of the webs to all the new mind explorers following this space. I have seen you trickle in while the circkets remained in silence.
I have been taking a break from social media and content creation, mostly because I overextended myself with different roles of leadership and the many hats I took on in the last years, while pushing for a bigger project (MythOS - more on that later) to be birthed.
Which brings us directly to the beating heart of this return…to the Circuit 4 transmission of “The Hidden Treasures Podcast” that has been sitting on my dashboard since May the 5th!
Circuit 4 in our model/map represents our social navigation protocols. How we show up in the world, in community, for our friends and in relationships. But also how we master the responsibilities of the Adulting Games. You know… those games that make you pass as a functional adult in late stage capitalism.
And I have been indeed busy exploring the process of community building, but with an unexpected turn in direction. When we recorded this episode in spring, my focus was on building community networks around The Y Radio and the Kiezburn Camp “The Mindfukking Neighbors” from which this radio project emerged. We were exploring on how to build networks of care for those who enjoy clubbing and exploring consciousness with mind-altering-substances.
The Cosmic Customer Care Radio Show, was our attempt to offer listening spaces for psychonauts out there to integrate their experiences and weave stories in community.
Somewhere along the way, we lost momentum when spring came on full force and everybody got busy in social butterfly mode, while I began my quest of seeding the Game World I feel inspired to create.
This year another type of community has been emerging around my own transformational work, that comes in the form of mythopoetical magical training journeys on my “imaginary” pirate ship “The Pippilotta”.
This year these journeys have reached a whole new level of intensity, immersion, and story-weaving. Also a whole new level of bonding with the crews I have taken on my ship for the spring journey and the autumn journey that is about to conclude on the winter solstice. Friend-ships, lover-ships, court-ships, and allies have emerged amongst the crews, in a way I would have not dared to imagine, even though I had cast my spells to call in my Lunatic Lifeboat Crew.
It still be like that after 8 years of practicing Chaos Magick, that I wonder in awe, when my enchantment spells actually start manifesting. It looks like next year I will set out into the adventure of building a magical pirates community with a physical space to anchor our r.evolutionary magical activism.
There is so much to share, and I hope that winter will bring the necessary stillness for me to compost this exciting and taxing year into stories for you all to read. So much to integrate into writing, and also: exhaustion be real. I have started dropping some hats.
I have some more episodes of “The Hidden Treasures”Podcast with captain Obvious coming your way, that we recorded before he went out chasing the Rainbow. We still have 7 more maps to walk through together, and I have a new Podcast format lined up with Alexandra Winteraven “Riffing from the Edge”, where you get to hear two witches talking about descend, unraveling and Underworld shenanigans. You know…the stuff we all will have to go through, as our current civilization configuration collapses.
Let’s get to the episode at hand now, everything else will drip as I digest in the coming winter months. If you are more of the listener and do not care so much about our image on the sofa, i recommend listening to it on the The Y Radio Soundcloud, as our sound engineer Quock spent a few hours cleaning it up for you. Unfortunately the OG recording is a bit fucked in regards to sound, especially the first few minutes.
Stay tuned.
“RETURN TO THE GREEN SEAS”
A dispatch on presence, pacing, and taking space to build relational architecture.
In this episodes we mixed the two Podcast formats we were experimenting with this year. The Hidden Treasures with Captain Obvious was running every Monday until he went off to chase the Rainbow, and The Cosmic Customer Care Show ran every 5th and 23rd of the month streamed on twitch. May the 5th this formats met. Its a long one, but also has some good tunes in between by the DJ’s of The Y Radio.
The first part follows the usual stream of consciousness conversations you know between me and Captain Obvious, while we examine our roles as “somewhat elders” in theY Community. The second part goes into his flavor of Cosmic Customer Care, which is about dreaming and breathing.
As always we found some pearls to share:
Pearl 1 : “The Quality of Presence Is a Circuit 5 feature, but the Ability to Be Present Begins in Circuit 4.”
We require presence for authentic relating. Most of the time our interactions with other humans come out of the social roles we play, the masks we wear, the functions we perform for one another. This relating often feels transactional.
To create meaningful relationships we need to unlock the feature of presence, to actually be with one another and that which emerges out of the connection, without following a script, a goal or telos for the interaction.
However learning presence, landing in the now, we develop as a Circuit 5 feature of embodiment and we need to learn to apply it to relating as well. We might have the ability to be situationally present here and there, but until we cultivate presence as a feature in our system, we will often fall back into transactional relating.
Pearl 2 “Autonomy Is the Prerequisite for Authentic Belonging.”
Captain Obvious says:
“A real belief in yourself includes a belief that you belong somewhere.”
But not if you’re performing.
Not if you’re people pleasing.
Not if you’re shrinking yourself to become more palatable.
This pearl points us to the work between Circuit 2 (Emotional Territory) and Circuit 4 (Relational Navigation).
Our need for belonging will mostly drive us to put on masks, take on roles that somehow serve the community, to perform adaptability to convention or to edit ourselves, so that we can experience acceptance by a group.
However The Gardens of Masked Belonging will not satisfy those who have entered the process of Individuation.
To experience authentic belonging, we do need to have the audacity to express ourselves as the messy processes of becoming that we all are. Constantly changing, evolving, growing.
And then dare to fly our freak flag high and see who actually resonates with our Freak-Quency.
Pearl 3 “Characters Are Both Masks and Invitations.”
“The commitment to the bit becomes the commitment to the collective.”
Here we explore that with this podcast we are also performing a character. Captain Mavis, Captain Obvious, the Fool, the Elder, the Mystic are all characters that we play for the sake of the podcasts and our writers identity. For me it is also a function title as transformational leader for my community of consciousness pirates.
And we are aware of the role we play. It is the commitment to the bit, that makes it more than roleplay though. When consciously inhabited, the roles we play develop archetypal gravitas and with that we embody a function to the collective, that goes beyond our individual personhood.
This is mythopoetic world-building insight at its best.
Pearl 4 : “Taking Space Creates Space.”
This one feels VERY powerful.
Often we might here sentences as “You take up too much space”, “You do not give spaces to others”, “Your presence fills up the room”, and we might feel self-conscious about that, especially if we take on leadership roles.
However, in this episode we explore how:
someone courageous on the dancefloor gives others permission to go into more self-expression
elders stepping up and taking the space, create safe spaces for younger ones explores themselves within the space given.
expressive characters open the Overton window of behavior, inspiring others to drop the masks and go full in.
This is a perfect metaphor for leadership, community design, AND creativity.
I have noticed that the group containers I provide, by showing up with full presence and weirdness, create a space of permission for my participants to show more of their weird selves.
Pearl 5 : “The Slow Gear Is the Power Gear — Especially for Leaders in Service.”
This theme repeats like a heartbeat:
rushing weakens presence
presence strengthens integrity
integrity strengthens service
breath is the portal
This pearl ties beautifully into upcoming Integration, C5, and my own journey into elder-ship.
We have noticed both that often we rush to be on time somewhere to step up into facilitation, because being on time is required to perform functional adult personas.
However, a wizard is always on time! And I have come to realize that I show up way more powerful, if I allow myself to break the time conventions in favor of taking my time to get ready for the bit.
Bonus: Hidden Thread
“Don’t explain yourself — but know when explanation is the gift.”
This one ties back to the Circuit 2 work. We so often feel the need to be understood so we feel safe to belong. And very often we over explain ourselves in an attempt to mitigate what ever relational disturbance we have caused by showing up authentically.
Captain Obvious muses here throughout the episode, that if we fast on explaining ourselves, when we do offer explanations they become more meaningful and can develop the gravitas that actually serve the collective.
Try it out and let me know how things shift, when you fast explaining yourself.
