The Hidden Treasures: EP 10002 - Sovereignty Starts in the Breath: Closing the Red Circuit

Unhooking from the hustle, reclaiming our bodies, and remembering that the revolution begins with rest.

Ahoy dear readers and listeners,

This time you get an earlier drop of last Mondays episode, as I am sitting at home Friday evening enjoying some solitude before going next week on an adventure of intense socializing.
And also because the date I had with a friend got cancelled because of some weird sickness.

Next week I will be traveling to the UK for

- Europe’s biggest psychedelic conference and I start feeling the excitement about this. I have never been there before and so curious to see what synchronicity arises from this meeting of psychonauts and occultists.

If you will also be attending, ping me up and let’s meet. I will volunteer as a speaker supporter in one of the lecture halls.

Generally tonight feels a bit like calm before a storm. I was looking intro my astro-transits on the pattern yesterday and after Sunday for a month I have nothing major happening, and then it seems I am in for a ride of intense and radical changes. I can feel the anticipation bubbling up for that and at the same time considering how I can make the most of the moment of calm.

As I am sitting here writing this note I can notice some feels coming up. After all we are navigating emotional territory this week. I feel sadness about a missed opportunity for connection with a substacker that felt very much like a synchronicity and yet I pushed back to prioritize other commitments. And now she has disappeared under mysterious circumstances. All her accounts on the socials: gone. Something about that feels unnerving and sad.

I guess I will take some time after dropping this dispatch to feel into the feels in my friary night solitude bubble and take an assessment on the state of my fucks-commitments. I have a sense that I am over-invested in a few areas while neglecting others. But more on that will follow when we get to the Circuit 2 Episode next Monday and when I get to the writing on the Yellow Map.

Now to last weeks episode:

Sovereingty starts with the Breath

In this Episode Captain Obvious and I go deeper into the edges of the Bio-Survival Circuit 1 and touch upon the topics of housing precarity, financial fears and the internalized hustle culture.

1. Techno-Dependence & Digital Survival Fractures

Captain Obvious has lost his phone and with the access to his digital bio-survival tickets. No money, no food. This takes us into a conversation on how dependand we are on the machine and its digital infrastructure for our survival. At any time our accounts could get frozen if we would step out too far into opposition to the machine.

This reminds me of an old movie with Sandra Bullock, where as a critical reporter at some point her whole digital identity gets deleted from the net, so she has no citizen access to anything. No access, no food. At latest when the social credit score program is in full action, we will feel that dearly - No compliance, No services, No food.

This does something with your nervous system. I suppose the Elody disappearing act is touching upon that. Did she disappear to go dark, or did she get deleted? The last trace of her here in the stacks in this video interview she had with

.

When is the last time you lost access to all your digital accounts? How did that feel in your body?

How would bio-survival sovereignty look without a smartphone and a computer?

2. Domestication & the Inner Capitalist

We also touch upon my internalized hustle culture as a self-employed witch trying to build something while remaining authentic to my own madness instead of offering something palatable for the masses.

I have fallen pray to the illusion that self-employed means I am more sovereign of my time. Sure I can decide for myself when I work and when to rest, I can work in my own rhythm. But at the end of the day I still work more than 50 hrs a week and not mostly because I feel passion about what I do.

The capitalism drivers have become internalized. Deadlines. Urgency. Production Mandates. They all take part in shaping how my body and my psyche workout the permission slips for rest.

I need to practice rest as rebellion.

My inner manager disagrees.

I have some deadlines to meet after all. So much to do before the “This is Chaos- Embracing the future of Magick” hits the shelfs on June 2nd. The first time ever any writing of my gets published in an actual book, as a newbi amongst very well known occultists.

3. Rest, Resistance & the Shame of Pausing

We also talk about how the Oath I have given for our Journey on the Pippilotta, which includes me taking 2 days off from working on my screens and capping my screen time at 23:00 at night, has rather caused me feeling stressed about not being able to work enough. Crazy right.

This week I am leaning a bit more into it, but the first week my system responded like a junky that got taken away his precious fix. Now I have been detoxing my dopamine system from Facebook, Instagram, Sex and Weed. So taking also work away hit hard the first week. A first panic: what the fuck am I gonna do with my time those days? Like I don’t even remember what to do with free time. Lol.

I was feeling big resistance to just resting and chilling on the days off. And then realizing: shit if I slow down… I need to sit down and feel the feels!

But I got myself some art supplies this week on my day of, so at least I can get back at drawing more maps!

4. The Pain of Soul Work in a Marketplace

Witches in capitalism. Uff. I have some issues with this. In this bit we talk about how service could look if we did not have to grind for survival, if we did not have to market ourselves to get clients, if we were embedded in the community we served.

Also: how much more capacity for service could we unlock, if we were out of the grind. Like if you actually have the time to fully relax your body, how much more presence could you give the world. How much deeper could your medicine land.

5. Breath as a Sovereignty Signal

We end our conversation talking about breath. The most powerful inbuilt tool we have to regulate our nervous system and start creating sovereignty in our bodies.

So what does your breath tell you about the state of your body right now as you are reading this?

How deeply have you been breathing? When is the last time you took a really juicy deep breath?

How about now?

Can you feel the difference between a breath you take to survive and one you take to arrive?

See you as always on Monday 19:30 CEST for the next transmission on Circuit 2: Emotional Sovereignty, with Captain Obvious aka

and perhaps another pirate from our crew.

Cheers

Captain Mavis
